Local naturalist, KWBGS garden docent and KWBGS newsletter editor, Beryn Harty, will be kicking off this season’s Speaker Series on Thursday 6th December with a presentation designed to help you select desirable native plants for your own Florida Keys landscapes and gardens. Her photographic presentation should prove very helpful for you during the KWBGS Gardenfest which follows (Sat 8th and Sun 9th December). Many of you are already familiar with her photos and articles which have been printed in numerous local Keys newspapers and / or posted on their websites. You may also know her publications: “A Butterflies View of the Garden” (144 flowers from different species in the garden), “Fabulous Fruits of the Florida Keys“ (fruits of 88 species of Florida Keys native species), “Flutterbys of Florida: Some Selections for Students” (common local butterflies).

The presentation will be in the Toppino Nature Chapel at 7 pm. It is FREE to KWBGS members and only $5 for non-members. KWBGS Members, Volunteers and Garden Guardians will be invited to join her in several strolls through the garden to sharpen their ability to recognize and identify native plants. If you haven’t joined the Garden yet, now’s the time, so that you can sign up for one of the strolls! She’ll set and publish a schedule shortly.
