The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden will host GardenFest –The Green Market Place on February 14th & 15th, 2015, from 10a.m. -4p.m.

This is the Garden’s annual community fair and outreach event and fundraiser.  Vendors from the Keys and the Mainland will be showcasing their creations, products and services.  Booths will be set up around the Garden where visitors can learn about and purchase native and exotic plants, palms and orchids, earth based arts and crafts with nature themes or composed of natural materials, eco-friendly green products and services and conservation oriented non-profit organizations.

Food vendors will provide lunch and musical entertainment will be provided by local musicians including Troi Atkinson, Adrienne & Friends, Island Time Steel Drums and others in our “Courtyard Beer Garden”.

This year will also feature a “Kids Science Corner!” where each child can create their very own experiment to take home.  The Garden’s Nursery will be offering information about native, rare and endangered plants which will be for sale.  Garden volunteers have propagated over 1,500 plants and 150 species of butterfly and bird attracting plants in sizes from one-gallon to 15-gallon pots.  Garden members receive a 15% discount and all proceeds directly benefit the Garden’s conservation program.

The Key West Botanical Garden Society continues its efforts to be in the forefront of educating visitors on the importance of the Garden as a conservancy in the form of a garden; interpret the Garden’s collection of native plants, insects, butterflies and birds; and communicate the importance of the Garden and its role as a sanctuary for an endangered ecosystem.
