A Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden Event

Seagrass Show & Waterslide Park

Saturday, April 24

On Saturday April 24th the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden proudly presents "The Great Seagrass Show & Waterslide Park." This will be our culminating Migration Mania event and it will take place on Saturday April 24th. Migration Mania is a month long series of educational activities, speakers, games, presentations, crafts, and animal encounters that fosters an appreciation of wildlife, flora, and fauna in the lower Florida Keys!

The event will feature four large waterslides for children to enjoy throughout the event! Kids may plunge down these waterways for a wild ride and a watery splash down! Each of the high-octane slides zips you down then drops you into an invigorating pool at the bottom. The largest slide, the Roaring River Slip, Slide and Splash is 22 feet tall and extends 56 feet in length!

Children can also get their hands wet while building a reef with Todd Hitchings from the eco discovery center!

For those who enjoy crafts there will be two craft stations available. Joy Tatgenhorst of the Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary will teach children how to make puppets out of sea grass. Plus, children can make colorful enchanting fish decorations.

At 11:00 am Sean Meehan of NOAA's Habitat Restoration Center will conduct a fascinating presentation on the topic of coral reef and sea grass restoration. His photographs and findings will amaze the conservationist in all of us!

Lastly, families can challenge one another, test their sea animal knowledge, and win fantastic family prizes at 1:00 during Sea Creature Bingo.

Families should bring their bathing suits and prepare for a splish-splashing spectacular educational and exciting experience!
